- Mini pretzel twists: The classic twist shape works best and holds the candy coating well.
- Green candy melts: Use bright green candy melts and melt them slowly until smooth. Add a tiny splash of coconut oil or shortening if they need thinning.
- Red heart sprinkles: Small red hearts give the pretzels their signature Grinch look. Any brand or size that fits neatly on the pretzel works great.
How to Make Grinch Pretzels
Add the green candy melts to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 to 30 second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
Use a fork to dip each pretzel twist into the melted candy, letting the excess drip off. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Before the coating sets, gently press a red heart sprinkle onto one side of each pretzel.
Allow the Grinch pretzels to harden at room temperature, or chill the pan in the fridge for about 10 minutes to speed things up.

Recipe Tips
- Avoid seizing: Avoid any water touching the chocolate and melt the candy melts slowly and stir often. Overheating can cause the chocolate to seize and turn grainy.
- If chocolate starts to thicken, add a small amount of coconut oil or shortening to bring it back to a smooth texture.
- Try pretzel rods: Mini twists are classic, but pretzel rods work great too. Just dip the top half in the green coating and add a heart sprinkle to one side.
- Use white chocolate instead: If you prefer, melt white chocolate chips or almond bark and tint it with green food coloring. Add the coloring before heating to help prevent seizing.
