Cherry Brownies with Brownie Mix
This quick dessert for 3 ingredient chocolate cherry brownies exceeded my expectations! Just pick up your favorite brownie mix with chocolate chips then combine it with cherry pie filling plus eggs for an amazing dessert.
You only need three ingredients for this chocolate fudgy dessert! I love my chocolate walnut brownies and brownie cakes but when I need something quick this is my-go. We served this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was so easy and delicious.
Ingredient Notes

- Brownie Mix: You will need a brownie mix that can be made in an 8×8 pan or 9×9 pan. I used Pillsbury gluten free chocolate fudge brownie mix. Ghirardelli chocolate fudge brownie mix is also great!
- Cherry Pie Filling: I purchased a 21 ounce can of cherry pie filling. You will not need to use all of it.
- Eggs: Two eggs help bind the brownie mix and cherry pie filling together.
How to Make Chocolate Cherry Brownies

- Remove one cup of the cherry pie filling and set aside.
- In a medium sized bowl, combine brownie mix, two eggs and remaining cherry pie filling.
- Add chocolate cherry brownie mixture to the prepared pan and bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted one inch from the edges comes out clean with only a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before using a plastic knife to cut into squares.
Tips for the Best Cherry Pie Filling Brownies
- Room temperature eggs will incorporate into the batter evenly.
- To test for doneness in this chocolate cherry brownie recipe, insert a toothpick about 1 inch from the edge of the pan. It should come out clean.
- These cherry brownies are supposed to be fudgy! Choose a fudge brownie mix versus a cake like brownie mix.
- Bake these brownies with cherries in a muffin tin! They will take 15 minutes for a mini muffin pan and 24-25 minutes for a regular sized muffin pan.
- Serve with a scoop of ice cream, reserved pie filling and a maraschino cherry on top!

Storage
- Store: Store up to a day covered in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, place in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days.
- Freeze: Cool completely then cut into squares. Flash freeze on parchment lined baking sheet then place in a freezer safe bag up to 3 months. Thaw and enjoy.

I didn’t see an instruction on what to do with the cup of cherry pie filling that is set aside. I don’t know if I’m missing something or if it was accidentally left out of recipe but I read the recipe over and over and did not see anything about it.
Hi Sandy, you don’t need to use that pie filling that was set aside. I have noted that now in the directions. Sorry for any confusion!
can this be made into a bread pan
Hi Rose, the batter would be quite thick in a bread pan, so I don’t think that would work unless you used maybe 2 bread pans and divided the batter between the two. This hasn’t been tested like that so I am not sure the baking time! If you try let us know!
