Much like my spinach and green apple smoothie or broccoli smoothie, this one blends up fast with simple ingredients and no added sugar. I love how the ripe pear gives it natural sweetness while banana and yogurt make it extra creamy.

  • Ripe pear: Use a soft, juicy pear for natural sweetness. Bartlett or Anjou pears blend especially well.
  • Spinach: A handful of fresh spinach adds color and nutrients without changing the flavor. If you use frozen spinach, I would use only 1/2 cup.
  • Frozen banana: Gives the smoothie a thick, creamy texture while keeping it naturally sweet.
  • Vanilla yogurt: Adds creaminess and protein. I like almond milk yogurt, but any kind works. Greek yogurt would give a nice boost of protein!
  • Almond milk: Use unsweetened almond milk or your favorite milk to help everything blend smoothly.
  • Ice: A few cubes make it extra cold and refreshing.

How to Make a Pear Smoothie

Start with the almond milk, then add the yogurt, spinach, banana, pear, and a handful of ice. Blend on high until the mixture is creamy and the spinach is fully blended.

Taste and adjust as needed for desired consistency and taste. Pour into a glass and enjoy while it’s cold and creamy.

Recipe Tips

  • Adjust the texture: For a thicker smoothie, add a few more ice cubes or extra banana. If it’s too thick, blend in a little more milk.
  • No need to peel the pear. The skin blends right in and adds extra fiber and nutrients.
  • Use a high-powered blender if possible. I love my Vitamix for getting everything silky smooth. If yours isn’t as strong, just stop and scrape down the sides as you go.
  • Make ahead: Freeze leftover smoothie in ice cube trays, then use them in future smoothies for quick prep.

Smoothie Add-ins

  • Hemp seeds or riced cauliflower for a boost of protein or creaminess without changing the flavor.
  • Swap spinach for kale for a deeper green and extra nutrients.
  • Add peanut butter or almond butter for healthy fats and a nutty flavor.
  • Stir in protein powder to make it more filling post-workout. Vanilla, unsweetened or a coconut almond flavor would be my choice.
  • Sweeten naturally with a drizzle of honey or a few dates if your pear isn’t super ripe.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon on top for a warm, cozy flavor.
