- Frozen banana: The key to a thick and creamy smoothie without ice cream! It naturally sweetens and balances the pumpkin’s earthy taste.
- Peanut butter: Adds protein, richness, and a touch of nutty flavor that pairs so well with pumpkin. Almond butter works too.
- Vanilla yogurt: Use any kind you like, regular, Greek, or dairy-free. It makes the smoothie extra smooth and adds a little tang.
- Almond milk: I used unsweetened almond milk, but any milk will work. Oat milk gives a naturally sweet flavor, while dairy milk makes it extra creamy.
- Pumpkin pie spice: Optional but highly recommended for that true pumpkin pie taste. You can also use cinnamon with a pinch of nutmeg or ginger if you don’t have the blend.
- Maple syrup (optional): For extra sweetness, add a drizzle of maple syrup to taste.
How to Make Pumpkin Smoothie
Making this pumpkin smoothie couldn’t be easier! Just add everything to your blender, pumpkin purée, frozen banana, peanut butter, yogurt, milk, and a handful of ice. Blend until combined with a smooth texture.

Give it a quick taste and see if you want a little more sweetness or spice, then pour it into a glass and finish with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice on top. That’s it! In less than five minutes, you’ll have a thick, creamy healthy smoothie for fall!

Recipe Tips
- Stop and scrape down the sides of your blender if ingredients sticks, it helps everything blend smoothly. I personally use my Vitamix which is a high powered blende.r
- For extra creaminess, use a frozen banana instead of adding more ice.
- Taste and adjust as you go! Add more maple syrup for sweetness or milk to thin it out.
- Make it your own with swaps like almond butter, oat milk, or Greek yogurt for extra protein.
- This pumpkin smoothie recipe is meant to be consumed immediately although sometimes I freeze it in ice cube trays and throw one in my regular morning smoothie to compliment it and boost nutrition.
Smoothie Add-Ins
- Want to boost your smoothie with extra nutrients or texture? Try one (or a few!) of these easy additions:
- Flaxseed: Adds fiber, omega-3s, and a nutty flavor.
- Pumpkin protein smoothie: Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder to make it more filling.
- Chia seeds: They’ll thicken the smoothie slightly while adding fiber and healthy fats.
- Hemp hearts: Great for protein and a mild nutty flavor that complements pumpkin.
- Avocado: Swap it in for the banana for a creamy, lower-sugar option.
- Walnuts, pecans, or cashews: Blend a few in for richness and a bit of crunch.
- Pumpkin smoothie bowl: For a thicker, spoonable version, blend in a few tablespoons of oats and top with granola or nuts.
