BLT Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls

If you’re craving a bite-sized sandwich that’s big on flavor, these Hawaiian Roll BLT sliders are a must-try. They are the mini version of a traditional BLT with the classic combo of bacon, lettuce and tomato but layered on soft, slightly sweet slider rolls!

Just like my crock pot crack potato soup, they are the kind of crowd-pleasing recipe that disappears fast at any game day spread. Whether you’re hosting a party or looking for a low-effort lunch, these sliders deliver all the flavor of a full BLT with a little extra flair.

Why You’ll Love These Sliders

  • Sweet and savory in every bite: The soft rolls pair perfectly with smoky bacon and crisp veggies.
  • Quick and easy. Only a few ingredients and minimal prep time make these sandwiches a bit simpler than my fried chicken sandwich or filet-o-fish.

  • Slider rolls: Hawaiian rolls are soft and slightly sweet, which complements the salty bacon. If you don’t have them, use another type of soft dinner roll or slider bun.
  • Bacon: Thick-cut bacon gives you the best flavor and texture. Turkey bacon or plant-based bacon are also great options.
  • Lettuce: Iceberg brings a refreshing crunch, but romaine or butter lettuce works too. Choose something sturdy.
  • Tomato: Fresh, ripe tomato slices brighten everything up. In the off-season, try roasted red peppers instead.
  • Mayonnaise: Classic mayo adds creamy richness, but you can swap in garlic aioli, mustard, or mashed avocado if you prefer.

How to Make BLT Sliders

Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Place them cut-side up on a baking sheet and toast for about 5 to 7 minutes, just until lightly golden.

Once toasted, spread mayo onto the inside of each top bun. You can use a spoonful or just swipe a generous layer with a knife, there is no need to be too precise.

Add a tomato slice to each bottom bun, then layer on two slices of crispy cooked bacon. Pile on some shredded lettuce, using as much or as little as you like.

Top with the toasted buns, gently pull the sliders apart, and serve. That’s it! Super simple and seriously tasty.

Tips for Success

  • Toast the buns: Lightly toasting the rolls helps prevent sogginess and adds flavor.
  • Keep the veggies chilled: Cold lettuce and tomato give the sliders great texture and freshness.
  • Balance your layers: Avoid overfilling so each slider stays neat and easy to eat.
  • Upgrade the mayo: Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, or fresh herbs for a quick flavor boost.
  • Garnish for fun: Top each slider with a toothpick, cherry tomato, or a sprig of greens like kale to make them party-ready.

Variations

  • Add a slice of cheddar, provolone, or Swiss cheese
  • Mix sriracha or hot sauce into the mayo for heat.
  • Add sliced avocado or guacamole for creaminess.
  • Layer in pickles, red onion, or cucumber for more crunch.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these BLT sliders as part of a game day or appetizer spread alongside fries, crisp pickle spears, or a tray of nachos. For a lighter meal, pair them with a refreshing fruit salad or simple coleslaw. They also make a fun addition to a summer BBQ or casual weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls , or 1 pack of 12 slider buns
  • 12 slices thick-cut bacon , cooked and torn in half
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Roma tomatoes , cut to 1/8 inch slices
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce

Garnish: 12 cherry tomatoes, 12 small pieces of curly kale

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Place them cut-side up on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes, or until they’re lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and lay the tops cut-side up. Spread about 1 Tablespoon of mayo on each one, or simply swipe a generous layer across with a knife if you're short on time.
  • Place a tomato slice on each bottom half (feel free to double up if you love tomato), then top with two slices of bacon.
  • Add a layer of shredded lettuce over the bacon, using as much or as little as you like.
  • Finish by placing the top slider buns over the filling.
  • Gently pull the sliders apart before serving, and enjoy!

Optional garnish: Thread a cherry tomato and small piece of kale onto a toothpick and stick one into each slider.

    Notes

    • Toast the buns. For extra flavor and a golden finish, butter both sides of the rolls before toasting.
    • Salt the tomatoes. A small pinch of salt can bring out their juiciness and brighten the whole slider.
    • Best enjoyed fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freezing isn’t recommended as the lettuce and tomatoes don’t hold up well once thawed.

    FAQs

    Can I use different rolls?

Yes, you can use any soft slider-sized rolls or small dinner rolls in place of Hawaiian rolls. Just avoid anything too crusty or dense, which can overpower the delicate balance of fillings or make the sliders harder to bite into.

Can I make these ahead of time to prep for a party?

You can prep the bacon, lettuce, and tomato ahead of time. Wait to assemble until just before serving.

How do I serve them for a party?

Arrange sliders on a platter with toothpicks or skewers. Offer extra condiments on the side for easy customization.

    How to store leftovers?

While they are best served fresh, you can store them up to 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. Reheat wrapped in foil in the oven.
