- Lime wedges: Freshly cut for the brightest citrus flavor.
- Mint leaves: Adds that signature mojito freshness. Ensure the are fresh with no brown spots.
- Sugar: Balances the tart lime, simple syrup can also be used.
- Club soda or sparkling water: Adds fizz without alcohol.
- Ice cubes: Keeps the fauxjito chilled and crisp.
How to Make a Fauxjito
Start by grabbing a sturdy glass—this drink comes together right in it, no cocktail shaker needed. Toss in a few fresh lime wedges, a small handful of mint leaves, and a spoonful of sugar.

Now for the fun part: muddling! Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently mash everything together. You’re not trying to pulverize the mint, just bruise it enough to release the bright oils and get the lime juice flowing.
Next, fill the glass with ice (all the way up!), then pour in your club soda or sparkling water until it reaches the top. Give it a gentle stir to bring all the flavors together.

To finish, garnish the fauxjito with a fresh mint sprig and a lime slice. Serve it right away while it’s fizzy and cold!

Variations and Add-Ins
- Cucumber: Add thin cucumber slices for a refreshing spa-like twist.
- Berry: Muddle in strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries.
- Ginger: Add a splash of ginger beer for spice.
- LaCroix : Use lime LaCroix or flavored lime sparkling water.
- Cherry Cola: Sub in cherry cola or your favorite soda for a fun soda version.
Expert Tips
- Chill your glasses ahead of time for extra refreshment.
- Want to serve a crowd? Multiply the ingredients and mix in a pitcher.
- Adjust sweetness to taste with more or less sugar.
- Use crushed ice instead of regular cubes for a more authentic mojito texture and better flavor infusion. It’s like a bar-quality mojito—but without the booze.
