- 3 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal , divide
- 13.25 ounce yellow cake mix
- 42 ounces apple pie filling , 2 cans
- 1 cup unsalted butter , divided
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350°F degrees and spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
Spread half the cereal in an even layer on the bottom of the baking dish. Top with the apple pie filling.
Sprinkle the cake mix over the top of the pie filling. Spread in an even layer, but do not mix the cake mix into the apples.
Set aside ¼ cup of butter, then cut the remaining butter into thin slices. Arrange the slices on the top of the cake mix.
Sprinkle the remaining cereal over the top of the butter.
In a small bowl, melt the remaining ¼ cup of butter. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until well blended. Drizzle the mixture over the top of the dessert.
Place in the oven to bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until the filling is bubbling and the cake layer has set.
Allow to cool in the pan for 15 to 20 minutes, then serve warm.
Serve with a scoop of ice cream for the best fall dessert.
This dessert is meant to be served immediately. Leftovers can be stored for a few days in an airtight container in the refrigerator, but the cereal will get soggy over time. Warm up in the microwave before serving.
